Getting Started with Student Ratings through the Pilot Program

Contact the Center to discuss pilot options. The following steps will get you started with paper and online options:

Paper Forms

  1. Identify an On-Campus Coordinator who will be the primary contact for The IDEA Center.
  2. Determine the number of classes and the number of students enrolled.
  3. Complete the Pilot Form Order request.
    • Call Sally Garvin with your order (800-255-2757)
  4. The shipment of forms will soon arrive and will include an Information Packet with directions for administering and shipping the forms for processing.
  5. Distribute and collect forms.
  6. Ship forms to the Center for processing. Include the Pilot Processing Checklist. If you do not have your Pilot Processing Checklist, please contact Sally Garvin at 800-255-2757.
  7. Upon receipt of the shipment, The IDEA Center will process and ship the reports within 10 working days. The processed materials and forms will be returned to you.

IDEA Online

  1. Identify an On-Campus Coordinator(s) who will receive IDEA Online accounts to manage the system locally.
  2. Contact the Center to schedule a 1-hour training session which will include:
    • Best practices to facilitate online response rates.
    • Instructions for your local e-mail administrator.
    • If requested, installation of Blackboard Building Block (requires Blackboard administrator privileges).
    • Overview of how to use the IDEA Online system
  3. Determine appropriate delivery method for your campus:
    • E-mail delivery.
    • URL posted to course website (requires unique student identifier, e.g., student ID or E-ID).
    • Blackboard Building Block (requires Blackboard Learning System “Enterprise” or “Portal”).
    • A combination of the above.
  4. Set the start and end dates for the survey administration period, including the Faculty Information and the student surveys.
