President, The IDEA Center
IDEA Executive Committee Member
The longest-serving member of the staff, Bill started at The IDEA Center in 1997 after extensive experience working in higher education. His interest in applied research about student ratings and student learning brought him to The IDEA Center. In his role as president, Bill spends a great deal of time traveling and consulting with institutions nationwide. Prior to joining the Center, he served as co-director of the Office of Educational Advancement at Kansas State University. In that position, he coordinated the Kansas Board of Regents' mandated assessment program. Earlier, he served as coordinator of analytical studies at K-State. Bill also served as a research associate in the Office of Academic Planning and Analysis at the University of Michigan and director of institutional research at Doane College (Neb.), where he received his baccalaureate degree. He earned his M.A. in educational psychology from the University of Nebraska and his Ph.D. in higher education administration from Kansas State University. If he is not at work or on the road, you will find Bill on the racquetball court, reading a historical biography, or occasionally on the golf course.
